Role Overview
The Quality Assurance Engineer is to join our technology team at a leading retail bank. This role focuses on testing Java-based applications that process high volumes of document images through complex workflows and integrate with enterprise document imaging systems. The ideal candidate will lead manual testing efforts, mentor QA team members, and ensure the highest quality standards for mission-critical banking applications. 
Key Responsibilities 

Test Execution & Defect Management
  • Execute functional, regression, and integration test cases. 
  • Identify, document, and track defects with clear reproduction steps. 
  • Validate fixes and support defect triage activities. 
Collaboration & SDLC Participation
  •  Participate in sprint planning, refinement, and retrospectives. 
  • Work closely with developers and product owners to clarify requirements. 
  • Ensure test cases are aligned with business and functional requirements. 
Automation & Tooling (Foundational) 
  • Contribute to existing automation frameworks and test suites. 
  • Execute automated tests and report results. 
  • Follow established automation and coding standards. 
Data & Environment Validation 
  • Validate test data across systems using basic SQL queries. 
  • Perform environment sanity checks before test execution. 
API Testing & Service Virtualization
  •  Testing of RESTful and SOAP services, including contract validation and negative scenarios. 
  • Implement and promote service virtualization and test stubbing strategies to enable parallel development and early testing. 
Data, Databases & Test Data Management 
  • Validate data integrity across systems using Oracle, MongoDB, and related data stores.
  • Experience testing system integrations, APIs, and data flows between applications 
 Required Qualifications/Skills 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience with the following:
  • Experience in manual and/or automated testing of enterprise applications.
  • Basic to intermediate experience with:
  • Java or another object-oriented language
  • Selenium for UI automation
  • API testing using tools like Postman or SoapUI
  • Understanding of SDLC, defect lifecycle, and test methodologies.
  • Familiarity with SQL and basic database validation.
  • Ability to execute test cases and document results clearly.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with document imaging platforms such as:  

    • Java or another object oriented 
      language
      Selenium for UI automation

    • API testing using tools like Postman or 
      SoapUI

    • Understanding of SDLC, defect lifecycle, and 
      test methodologies.

    • Familiarity with SQL and basic database 
      validation.

  • Ability to execute test cases and document results clearly.
  • Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn automation tools and enterprise systems.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with developers, product owners, and business partners.
  • Exposure to banking or financial services is a plus.
