Role Overview
The Payments Business Systems Analyst role supports and enhances high-value, high-volume payment processing platforms within our Commercial & Investment Banking organization. This role sits at the intersection of payments operations, technology, risk, and product, with a strong focus on end-to-end payment flows, messaging standards, and system integrations. The ideal candidate has deep payments domain knowledge and is comfortable working with complex, regulated systems supporting domestic and cross-border payments.


Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and document end-to-end payment flows across channels, payment hubs, screening, posting, settlement, and reporting.
  • Translate business and regulatory requirements into clear functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Support modernization initiatives, including payment hub consolidation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Required Qualifications/Skills 

  • 5+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst in financial services
  • Strong hands-on experience with payments systems in a banking environment
  • Solid understanding of:
  • Wires, ACH, RTP, and cross-border payments
  • Payment lifecycle, settlement, and liquidity concepts
  • Experience working with ISO 20022 and SWIFT messaging
  • Ability to analyze complex system integrations and data flows
  • Strong documentation skills (functional specs, flow diagrams, mapping docs)
  • Technical Skills (Non-Coding)
  • Payments architectures (real-time vs batch)
  • APIs and message-based integrations
  • Data validation, enrichment, and transformation concepts
  • Reconciliation, exception handling, and monitoring
  • Non-functional requirements: throughput, latency, resiliency, auditability
  • Commercial or Investment Banking experience
  • RTP or real-time payments exposure
  • Payment hub or core banking platform experience
  • Agile / Scrum delivery experience
  • Experience supporting regulatory exams or payment audits
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented with a big-picture mindset
  • Comfortable operating in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments
  • Clear communicator and effective collaborator
  • Ownership mindset with strong follow-through

Preferred Qualifications

  • OFAC / sanctions screening touchpoints

  • Real-time vs post-processing screening

  • False positive handling and repair workflows

  • Audit trails and evidentiary requirements

  • Exception queues and operational tooling
